We are hopeful that this sweetheart will be joining our family in late October. We really had no intention of adopting again right now, but Betsy shouldn't look at waiting child lists and photos! When she asked for more information and saw Zhi Wei's photos, her eyes just grabbed us. Plus she reminded us so much of Bailee at the same age.
Zhi Wei was born on August 10, 2002 (just five months younger than Callee) and is living at the Xiajiang County Social Welfare Institute in Xiajiang, Jiangxi Province. In the development reports from the orphanage, she is described as follows: "Zhi Wei has the strong ability to adapt to new environments. She never cries or panics in new places. She has a good appetite, and doesn't have any special needs in her diet. She has a round face, eats wells and it shows. Zhi Wei is a happy child, likes to be accompanied by others. She is a healthy, active, restless and lovely child." Her favorite activitiy is playing outdoors, and her favorite toy is the seesaw. Zhi Wei was on a list of waiting children with All God's Children International in Portland, Oregon. They have been a wonderful agency so far! Very responsive and fast turn around on everything. We first saw Zhi Wei's sweet face on March 9th. Our Letter of Intent to adopt her was sent to AGCI on March 17th - they had it translated and it arrived in China on March 28th. We received our pre approval to adopt her from China on May 10th! Our dossier was submitted on July 15th, so now we have a 2-3 month wait to receive permission to travel and bring her home. We're planning to leave for China on October 10th to attend the Trade Fair in Guangzhou and visit friends. If all goes according to plan, we'll go to Nanchang the last week of October to complete our adoption! We were able to get some updated photos from the orphanage last month - it doesn't look like Zhi Wei is missing any meals! (Photos below the maps). The older three girls are all from Guangdong Province, so really very close. Pat and Betsy have traveled to Jiangxi Province in the past to visit fireworks factories. |
